Gatherings such as this one are good for the local economy and for the self, but they’re also valuable additions to the entire community. I ran into people I haven’t seen in ages, and met others from all walks of life who share the same passions. The people were friendly, the vibes were fantastic, and it reminded me how good we really have it in the Mile High City.

It’s clear by this point that President Nixon’s historic and deeply problematic War on Drugs failed to stop the drug trade in America in any measurable way. Addiction and overdoses have actually gotten worse, largely due to the widespread takeover of hard drugs like fentanyl. But how did we get here? And how do we support the freedom to experiment without crossing the line into harm?

Our hyper-connected world allows us to transform language faster than ever before in human history. It’s up to us to make sure it’s a language that works for us, rather than corporations profiting off of our content. 

In the end, the value of a found family lies in its intentionality. These are the people who choose us, who show up, stay present, and build a life with us – not because they’re expected to, but because they genuinely care.

Queer people have always existed, and they aren’t going anywhere. We owe them so much of our culture – music, art, movies, fashion, and even medical cannabis legalization. Every American, regardless of race, gender, sexuality, or background, deserves the same access to health services. A healthy society will make us a stronger nation, better able to love and show up for one another in times of need.

As psychedelic research continues to move from the underground into healthcare and mainstream conversations, we need to be careful not to carry old gender norms and expectations along with it.

It’s no secret that the music festival industry in North America — and the rest of the world — is having a rough year. Over the last few months, dozens of events have faced bad weather, poor ticket sales, revoked permits, and outright cancellations, and many festivals have never recovered from the COVID pandemic.

Hearing about how amazing and life-changing a festival is for years before you go can sometimes lead to disappointment when you finally make it. Fortunately, Hulaween did not fit into this category. I was blown away by the entire event, and I was lucky to have one of the best festival weekends I’ve had in years – if not ever. 

Fans of creators like Charlesthefirst and Of The Trees are sure to love the two new tracks, “What I Can Do” and “Evoke.” CØNTRA and Saturna have worked with other producers including ATTYA, Metric, and Phurn, showing off both their talent as individuals and their ability to craft excellence with others.

When I first saw the lineup for Disco Donnie’s inaugural edition of the Texas Eclipse Festival, I was intrigued. Rarely do you see such a packed collection of artists from so many genres, whether it be jam, dubstep, house, or psytrance, anywhere in the United States. Throwing an event of this caliber, especially as a one-off gathering, is no easy feat–and I had to check it out for myself.

If we let them, mushrooms could change the scope of human life forever - at an even grander scale than they already have.
